Adult Skill Training
Building Independence & Careers
At Deepshikha, we believe that every individual deserves a life of dignity, independence, and purpose — regardless of their disabilities. We also understand that growing up with a disability doesn’t lessen one’s dreams — it simply means the journey needs a bit more guidance, support, and compassion.
Hence, our Adult Skill Training Unit is designed to empower young adults with developmental disabilities such as Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Multiple Disabilities by equipping them with real-world vocational skills. We work with individuals aged 16 and above to help them transition into adulthood with confidence, self-sufficiency, and hope.

Data Entry
These activities not only help in personal development but also foster creativity and productivity. The sale proceeds from these activities go directly to the students themselves, allowing them to experience financial independence and responsibility.
Entrepreneurial Development
Students are encouraged to develop entrepreneurial skills by creating products and selling them in the community, including handmade Diya paintings and items for festivals. The funds earned from these sales help students build confidence and gain a sense of financial autonomy.
Workplace Readiness
Through our training in AMBA and AMOG programs, students are prepared for roles in data entry, administrative tasks, and proofreading. These skills help students integrate into the professional workforce or start their own businesses.
Shopkeeping Skills at Utkarsh
Tucked away within our Namkum campus, Utkarsh is more than just a shop — it’s a classroom in disguise.
Here, young adults with Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Multiple Disabilities learn the everyday nuances of running a business:
- Managing shelves
- Interacting with customers
- Handling cash
- Taking responsibility
Through this space, students begin to understand what it means to earn, manage, and serve — all at their own pace, with hands-on experience.
And the impact? It's real.
Students like Abhishek, Rana, and Rinku took their learnings beyond Utkarsh. With gentle support from their families, they’ve gone on to start and manage their own shops — becoming entrepreneurs in their own right.
AMBA CEEIC Training
The AMBA CEEIC training program, which started on August 1, 2013, is specifically designed to help students with developmental disabilities achieve economic independence through training in data entry. This time-bound program, run under the AMBA CEEIC initiative in collaboration with Bangalore, equips students with the necessary skills to perform data entry tasks efficiently, enhancing their ability to gain employment or start their own ventures.
Some other skills that kids learn in this program include:
- Book editing
- Basic digital literacy

Assisted Living Program
For many families, the transition into adulthood comes with worry — “What happens when I’m not around?
Our Assisted Living Program is designed to provide both short-term and long-term support:
- Students learn how to live independently — cooking, cleaning, managing finances, and following routines
- We have a dedicated residential facility where students can practice these skills in a safe, supervised environment
- In cases of emergencies, travel, or family needs, parents can leave their children with us temporarily. We take full responsibility for their care, ensuring they are safe, nurtured, and engaged
It’s not just assisted living — it’s a home with purpose. Whether it's a planned stay or an urgent need, families can trust that their loved ones are in capable and compassionate hands.
-
Festival-Based Production
Students engage in festival-based production, including handmade Rakhis and Diwali items, which are sold at exhibitions, providing them with valuable work experience and financial independence.
-
Retail & Customer Service Training
Students are trained in retail operations, including customer service and management of retail spaces, ensuring they are ready to thrive in any business or employment setting.
Making a Difference, One Skill at a Time
Every student in our Adult Skill Training Unit is given the tools they need to succeed independently. Whether it’s starting their own business, finding a job, or simply gaining confidence, we’re here to support them at every step.
Help us continue providing life-changing opportunities.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
