Through our RCI-approved programs under the National Board of Examination in Rehabilitation (NBER), we equip aspiring special educators with the knowledge and skills to make a lasting impact.
Program Objectives
The D.Ed. in Special Education (IDD) program is designed to:
- Build a strong understanding of various disabilities and their educational implications
- Equip learners with insights into child development and psychological factors affecting education
- Familiarize students with laws, policies, and inclusive education practices
- Train in the use of assessment tools and individualized educational planning
- Develop effective teaching methods tailored to diverse learning needs
- Empower future educators with strategies for inclusive and therapeutic interventions
- Highlight the critical role of families and communities in child development
Program Scope and Competencies
Knowledge-Based Competencies:
- Understanding of disabilities and associated developmental aspects
- Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks
- Skills for curriculum planning, teaching strategies, and classroom management
Skill-Based Competencies:
- Assessment and intervention for children with ASD, ID, and SLD
- Use of inclusive teaching techniques and assistive technology
- Ability to teach in varied settings—special schools, inclusive classrooms, or home-based environments

- Advocacy for inclusive education and equity
- Engagement of families and communities as partners
- Belief in the potential of every child to learn and thrive
Career Opportunities
Upon completion, graduates can pursue careers in:
- Teacher in Special and inclusive schools (elementary level)
- Early intervention centres and preschools
- Home-based and technology-supported education settings
- Clinics/Rehabilitation Centre for children with ASD, ID SLD and high support needs
